Yeah, so it's been more than a minute since I've posted....more like an hour. But I have good reason. So much has taken place that I have no idea where to begin. How about I share what's going on with the businesses.
Heavens' Investment is officially in full swing. I'm running two lines of business under the brand-event planning and money management. I've had 3 official appointments for the money management arm, and am hoping to see more referrals come in. I must admit that it feels great to see my dream coming to reality. Giving advice on how to budget and organize finances really helps me to keep my own life in perspective.
Then there's The Great Date Escape, which is focused on providing events for Christian singles in the Chicago area.
How did The Great Date Escape come about? Well back at the beginning of the year, I was looking at doing the speed-dating thing(yet, again) but still refusing to attend an event at a bar. While laying on the couch, I started thinking to myself, "I can host my own speed dating event"...and that's where it all began. Getting started has been the most difficult part but its been a blessing to have wonderful people like my boy, Rosean, to help me out. Over the last couple of months, I've learned the processes of starting a business from scratch, creating a website, marketing techniques, and a host of other valuable tools.
I can't say that it's been an easy road and initially, I was really concerned about how the Christian community would receive a "dating service" (did I mention that I want to steer clear of this being a dating service?). But I'm just trusting God that if He gave me the idea and intuition to do it, he'll send the people. It was a also a total blessing to find the only book written to help people start a speed-dating business. Originally, that's all I was going to do is host speed dating, but as I continued to work, the idea evolved and now its various events for singles.
This is especially important now that my job situation is so unsure. There are still no definites as to when our positions are being eliminated. All we know is that October 29th is when our broker-dealer will collapse into the new firm. I do know that people have started receiving their walking papers. Is it bad that I'm not really concerned? Oh well....
I'm taking my final class in March. That's right...I'll have my MBA at the end of April. I could have been completed sooner but I really think that I should take this Entrepreneur course. Perhaps it can offer me some ideas and insights that I haven't already gained.
I'm tired so I'm going to make my way to bed. Catch up more on tomorrow.
