Recovery in progress

This weekend was so amazingly awesome. Not that I went jumping out of plane or trying bull riding....its just the way the entire weekend panned out.

For starters, my dad and his wife came up from Arkansas to visit my young cousin who recently underwent a kidney transplant. Of course we did a little shopping while they were here and I finally got to try Omaha Steaks. The jumbo shrimp...mmm mmm good. The chicken breast are perfect portions and I'm still looking for an opportunity to try out the steaks.

Friday night, I hung out at the Little Black Pearl Workshop for a Singles' event hosted by a sister church. Poetry, games, and a silent auction....I won housekeeping, which everyone says I don't need. I have to remind people that my house is so clean because I'm always slaving to keep it that way. I'm loving the idea of allowing someone else to do the cleaning. Saturday included a trolly tour of the city and a stop at the Hershey's store hosted by another sister churchs' Single's ministry.

I had great hopes for this event. A few years back, I went on a skiing trip with them and it was awesome. However, it will have to be something really special before I join them for another outting. The concept was great but the execution and service was poor. Despite that, I managed to make my own fun at the Hershey's store, and walked away with waaaaay too much chocolate for one person.

Sunday and Monday were spent recovering. I didn't accomplish nearly what I wanted but I did get some much needed rest :))

Before the week is out, I must:

1. sign up for swimming lessons
2. complete tax statements and organizing church office.
3. complete my taxes
4. send docs to lender
5. complete final assignments for ministerial class

What's wrong with me?!

This mornings' train ride to work could have been a change in the course of events. As I take my seat, I notice this tall, dark, and extremely handsome young man standing on the other end of the car. As I take my seat, we are facing each other, although through 2 plasic/ glass plates. As I start to put my head phones on, the conductor makes the "common" announcement about the trains running behind due to technical difficulties (that's a whole different post). We catch eyes and Mr. Handsome throws me a huge smile but instead of smiling back, I freeze up just before glancing away from him.

Now, what is that all about? As I my exit approached, I got up to stand by the door, gaining a better view of him and hoping he'd throw me another smile...because this time I was ready. No such luck, never even gained eye contact with him again.

So, I realize that I have to work on this. I've gotten so accustomed to being in my own world and being so preoccupied with busy work that although I wanted to meet someone I knew that I really didn't have the time. Now that I do have a "little" more time, I've got to get away from blowing people off. Playing hard to get is one thing but being unapproaching is unacceptable...especially for a princess.
